Can anyone help me with a problem? I am trying to email an attached MS Word
document to a couple of people. When I send it to myself, there is no
problem. When I send it to other people, they receive it at a winword.dat
file. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

Change your email format to either Plain Text or HTML. This happens when you
send mail in Rich Text Format (Outlook default setting) to users who don't
use Outlook.

Thank you so much. I think it worked.

HI:

I have the same issue and I use Yahoo business mail.
How do I change the default of my e-mail to HTML?

Thanks.

I am having the same problem and I DON'T have Outlook! For some recipients, all Word attachments sent from my godaddy.com email are converted into .dat files they cannot open. Email settings are for HTML, so not sure why this is occurring, but it is extremely annoying as I use my godaddy.com for work-related emails.

I use Mozilla as my browser and I use Word 2010. HELP!!! GoDaddy has not been able to figure out why this is happening.
