I have a Star 2000 DVD-Rom player on my computer with XP
home edition and it will not work. It worked on Win98SE.
Where can I find the necessary drivers for this? My Intel
baord bios recognizes the player. XP does not.

Also the drivers for my HP 712C printer on XP is a bunch
of crap. Why does'nt XP have a full set of drivers for
this printer.

So far I do not like XP.

HP did not think it economically viable to write updated drivers for a long
discontinued printer. Blame them, not Microsoft. You can however regain
the additional features by using the shareware found at www.fineprint.com

Have you contact the manufacturers of your DVD ROM to see if the drive is
compatible with XP... and reinstalled your DVD software...

It is NOT Microsoft's responsibility to write drivers for third party
hardware. It's up to the hardware manufacturers themselves. When a product
is long out of production, they don't feel they can spend the time or money
in keeping the product supported.... they expect you to purchase newer
hardware.
