There could be more than one "AdvancedTab" value.
Try these keys first and then search for AdvancedTab (no space)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel
Remove "AdvancedTab" if present.

I don't know what is causing this. It is not that long since I started
to see them appear.

Feedback gives nothing definite, though updates have been blamed by
one poster, but then updates are blamed for a lot of things.

We're starting to see evidence of a new malware (or variant) named (...)
'T3', Alan. Henri and others have seen a few instances
(and AFAIK only BHOCaptor (not
BHO Cop) http://www.webattack.com/get/bho.shtml has identified and removed
it. YMMV.

Running spybot innoculate feature and accepting all defaults without
reading or understanding what is being done is the most likely cause.
Poster doesn't understand relationship between spybot innoculation and
IE restrictions, so doesn't mention using spybot.
A casual reading of the spybot settings would indicate that Internet
Options can be blocked entirely from within IE (HKCU), but should be
accessible via Run or control panel menu. There is no mention of
blocking the advanced tab. Of course, this particular situation might be
caused by some other spyware blocker/innoculator.
Of course, if the user is in a domain with group policy, that is another
explanation.

Most of the canned replies to the missing tabs questions involve
removing the restriction keys in the registry. Seems like mentioning
Spybot and malware removal should preceed advice to edit the registry.
