I am brand new to Outlook 2002. The first thing I did was set up an
account,
which seems to work just fine because when I click on "Test Account
Settings"
everything checks out perfectly. The problem is, my account doesn't
show up
on the folder list. Where is it?
You see message stores in Outlook. Each root node (leftmost node) is
a message store. If you are not using Exchange, each message store is
contained within a .pst file. Why do I mention this? Because Outlook
will aggregate all POP3 accounts into the same message store. If you
have 5 POP3 accounts, they all get aggregated into the one message
store so, for example, all e-mails received from those 5 POP3 accounts
will show up in the one Inbox for the current message store designated
to receive e-mails. Each HTTP account, like Hotmail, gets its own
separate message store and why you see another root node and subtree
for each HTTP account. I'm not familiar with using IMAP accounts but
suspect each gets its own message store, too.
You did not mention WHAT type of e-mail accounts that you have. If
they are POP3 accounts, they all get rolled into one message store.
You will need to create separate folders and create rules that check
through which account an e-mail was received and have it moved to a
folder created to hold e-mails for that account (i.e., use rules to
slice apart the Inbox into other folders used to hold e-mails for each
account).
