my 1 year old Seagate HD is making loud noise

The drive seems to be working fine and no SMART error has been reported
but it's loud after a few month. is it the bearing problem. Will it die
suddenly and is this enough reason to ask Seagate for RMA?

Unlikely, but ask Seagate. They may exchange it anyways.

Depends on the nature of the noise. Thats certainly the main possibility
if its a relatively regular noise with no obvious repetitive pattern involved.

Post the SMART report here using Everest, a pass/fail isnt really enough.

Bearing failure usually doesnt, its normally just damned annoying.

Modern fluid bearings havent been around all that
long tho, so thats not completely guaranteed.

Thanks. I'll order a new drive from NewEgg next week. Then back up the
drive and ask Seagate for RMA. The noise constant and loud which is very
annoying especially my computer is on 24/7.

Yeah, thats definitely bearing noise. Sometimes it isnt
that constant, but definitely no regularity to the pattern.
