Everything I hear about MWave is good, I just want to know how
extensive the testing is when I pay them to assemble a mobo with CPU
and memory.
Do they upgrade to the latest bios as needed?
How extensive is the "burn-in"?
Do they run a test suite that tests more than booting windows would?
Jerks.
Ordered a new 1T Hitachi HD on a discount from MWave, as listed from
one of the sale-watching type sites, to which MWave added $10 for some
sort of "returning customer" gratuity when they processed me for the
sale.
My price for the 1T Hitachi, out the door and shipped to me -- $49.
Email from MWave arrives 3 days later, to me:-- 'Um, I guess we
screwed up selling you that HD too cheap, so we're not going to do it
now. But you can keep the discounts."
Whatever. $20 incentive provided me in the email, and the $10
generated by their website programming automation.
Go back to apply them, and front desk refers me to call someone named
JoeBlow (that'll just have to do), who's more knowledgeable. JB
Between shipping and the discount incentives, JB doesn't want to honor
them all, basically, boiling down to take either the $20 and pay
shipping -or- we'll give you free shipping.
So I start asking questions about a couple drives I've narrowed in on,
one of which is advertised as "Pulled - AS NEW". Then JB starts
putting me on hold after every question I ask, which he doesn't
especially want to answer. For instance, what does PULL mean?
While waiting on hold for JB, I pull up a browser window and check out
NewEgg's prices on same-model HDs, which are the same or within a few
dollars difference, in addition.
I dropped the line on JB and sent the order into NewEgg. As the old
saying goes -- If you want a pro go with a pro;- if you're dying of
thirst, and don't, then you can lick the sweat off JB's balls (when he
comes off his holding pattern).
