Hi. I keep getting Error 32091 Shared Fax Service failed to receive a fax
even though the majority of my faxes get through perfectly. It's an external
modem with the latest driver set to 3 rings on Windows SBS 2000 SP4. The
modem is listed under Windows 2000 Hardware compatibility list.
Please help.
Thank you
Bob.

Are you sure those are not legitimately dropped faxes? What are the error
details? Is there a code?

Hi Alex. Thanks for coming back to me.
There are no error details just Event ID 32091 "The Shared Fax Service
failed to receive a fax" and Event ID 32034 "Receive failed due to a
reception error. Shared Fax Service was able to receive only a portion of the
incoming fax".
If you think that they are legitimate drops then would changing to a
Brooktrout Card as recommended by Microsoft catch these?
Thanks
Bob

Not necessarily. There is a possibility that the particular sender is on a
bad line. Ideally you will need to set up a fax analyzer between you and the
sender. There is one other possibility though. I've noticed that if you
stick several PCI modem cards (especially softmodems, like Lucent (avaya),
Rockwell (Conexant) HCF etc) in the same box, you will get fax failures
because the driver misses critical timing requirements.
