Mutiple .ppt extensions

When viewing the file extionsion in explorer it shows
multiple .ppt add on. for example: Lynn.ppt is
lynn.ppt.ppt.ppt Why is this happening... Checked for
Viruses ect... nothing. Win2000 running office 97. Help...

I can duplicate this problem by saving xyz.ppt using the Save As, as
xyz.ppt.ppt.ppt Which would be my guess as to what is happening. When you Save
or Save As, PowerPoint assumes the default of .ppt. If you add another .ppt in
the box, it will be accepted. This did not happen under the old 8.3 rules.

This sounds like...when you are saving a file

and you give it a new name

someone is entering the 3 letter extension.

e.g.
victor.ppt

powerpoint then adds the automatic 3 letter extension also

She is detaching from Lotus notes and when she saves it
she goes to save as and puts it where she wants it to go
and hits save. She does not change the name or add an
ext. she takes the default......

any other Ideals....

I watched her save the file. She just goes to the
directory where she wants the file and hit the save button
with out changing name ext.....

Any other Ideals...

Does she have file extensions hidden in Windows? I've only seen multiple
extensions when those are hidden...

No she does not have file extensions hidden. We have them
showing....

Does this only happen with files saved from Lotus Notes (you mentioned that
program somewhere in one of these messages, I believe)? If so, I'd check
with them...
