i recently got hijacked where no matter what address i
typed onto the address bar, i got the same search page. i
went through the registry and deleted all references to
that page. now, when i type a web address, i must
type "http://" before the web address or i get a 'can't
find website' message. kind of annoying.

any ideas?

From Mike Burgess.

Verify the following entries are correct in the Registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPre
fix]
@="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"
