Hello,

When I reboot my PC the DHCP for my LAN connection does
not get set up. There is no DNS server, nor gateway
route. I have to reboot 8 to 10 times and finally it will
start up correctly. When it boots and does not set up
correctly I notice it takes about a minute before McAfee
Virus Shield and then the LAN startup. When it starts up
correctly the Virus Shield and then the LAN start up much
sooner.

I am running XP Home, with multiple users. My LAN is a
cable modem and wireless router. I can plug the PC LAN
directly into the cable modem and the problem is the
same. I have another PC on the same LAN with no problems.

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem, i.e., trouble getting DHCP to assign an IP address
after bootup. It takes 6-7 minutes before DHCP assigns an IP address and I
can access the internet. If I right click on My Network Places -
Properties, nothing happens for about 1 and 1/2 minutes then the Network
Connections window appears and I double click Local Area Connection then the
Support tab and see the Automatic Private Address. If I click the repair
button DHCP assigns the correct IP address within a few minutes and I can
connect to the internet. I'll keep watching this link and hope that someone
can shed some light on this problem.

Bob
