You could take a look at Finale Notepad (registerware, possibly, but
otherwise "free"):

It has an extremely annoying home page, with music sounds taking over
your stereo, and it is in flash or something format so it doesn't help if
you have disabled sound in your browser.

Anyway, it is totally useless. It is a very restricted demo for a payware
program.

"The free demo version has the following limits:
No saving possible (in either .ttx or .mid or .wav formats).
Printing disabled.
Play back limited to 4 measures per hit of the play button.

The full version is available at a special low introductory price of
US$29.95 "

So the announcement is pure commercial spamming of this freeware
newsgroup.
