Seeking comments on the difference of these two. They are both on the new
computer, but I am confused about if/how different. Some saved files are
played by each, but not all played by either. Should I be using just one of
these?

The (new to me) Windows XP has already created files for music and when I
try to create/organize files for myself, I lose the ability to play the
music! I am a bit frustrated with xp -- it does too much for me and I loose
understanding!

That's up to you. They are similar programs from different companies,
with a lot of overlapping features.

I don't understand what you mean by this. Do you mean "folders"?

What does it mean by "I lose the ability to play the music"?

Yes, "folders", I wanted to name and arrange them in my own words and
organization of folders.

When I play some music I get 'broken links' messages in Music Match and when
I try to 'fix the links' I am unsuccessful.

From your comment to my first question it seems I should be using one of
the two programs -- not both. Is the music stored in 'my music' folders and
just accessed by the WMP10 program and the Music Match 10 program?

I appreciate your assistance!

You can do this, but:
1. when you rip music using WMP it will stick to its own <album artist
name>/<album title> schema. You can rename/move the files and WMP will
track them
2. If you have WMP's rename & rearrange settings on then other software
will probably not be able to track it. You also risk losing your files.

You can use both, but if youa re depending on Music Match to track where
WMP has moved files then you won't have much fun.

Basically yes. You can store the music anywhere, but My Music is the
default.
