Music Lag

Ok, I can't afford Flash, so i use Powerpoint. In a particular movie, I want
the slides to play "with" the music. (When the bass plays, the speakers move
on the screen.) But the timings are wrong. When I record the timings, it's
great, but when I play it, the slides don't align with the soundtrack. Please
help me. I'm using Powerpoint 2003 for Windows XP professional. Please post
your answer OR email it to me at (e-mail address removed)

Not to be too cynical or pessimistic, but PowerPoint is not the best tool
for close synching of imagery and music. Most of us who depend upon accurate
timing have sought other software. Having said that, here are a few things:

- If you begin playing a sound and showing an image, the two will stay in
relatively close synch for about five seconds. After that, the images will
tend to lag behind the sound, but not by an amount that you can count on.

- If you break your clip up into several smaller ones, you can create
multiple five-second windows in which you can generally count on accurate
timing.

If your work is more exacting than that, consider downloading a copy of Pro
Show Gold or Producer from www.photodex.com. I like it so much that I devote
a chapter to it in my latest book on advanced PowerPoint (see below).
