I can not figure out how to download music onto the
computer to insert into PowerPoint slide show that it will
accept. Do I need special software to record the music in
a format that is compatible with PowerPoint? I'm just
learning to use this program. I have PowerPoint from the
Microsoft Office Professional 2000. Academic Edition. Our
son had this on our computer for his college class. They
didn't get into PowerPoint much. They mostly worked with
the Excel portion so he was of no help to me.

The sound files PowerPoint will accept are wave and mp3
files so they will need to be in that file type. CD Audio
can also be played but only from an audio CD that is in
the CD Rom drive at the time of using the presentation.

You can record sound in the form of music, sound effects
or human voice as a narration by using the sound recorder
from: Insert > Movies and sounds > Record Sound

You will need to connect a microphone, CD player or tape
player to record from

You can also download sound files from the internet.

To insert a sound, go to:
Insert > Movies and sounds > Sound from File

For more information look in Help by pressing F1 and type
in Sound

Be aware that the sounds you copy from the internet, tape
or CD are ALWAYS owned by someone and you must have
permission to copy them before you can use them.
