music & images

I have matched the music dynamics to correspond with the images. Sometimes
when it is played it is perfect but sometimes there is a second or so time
delay with the music which means the pictures arrive just a little too early.
I don't understand why it works perfectly one time and not the next. As I
want to package this for CD and then DVD so it can be played on a television
I need it to be right EACH time!
Thanks

Aranel,

Been there, got the t-shirt as they say! This isn't so much a PPT issue
as a PC and Operating System issue I believe.

You've encountered the wonder of all PCs ability to multitask! Your PC
might "seem" to be idle while you run your PPT with sounds, there are
many other tasks it is performing at the same time, some of which will
take priority and so give your PPT a second or so delay to play the
synchronised sounds.

With sync'd sound, its logical to assume you are using this as an
unattended show, yes? As such, no-one is going to click through it to
move to the next slide as your builds and transitions do that for you,
all the while backed by your selected sound tracks.

I get round the delays that PCs add in by creating the PPT, then I
screen capture it in its entirety. I use Camtasia Studio 6 but you
might find other recording tools cheaper or better. This creates a
silent AVI file of some large proportions...

Then I use Premier Pro to lay the audio track on top of the video from
Camtasia and if I need to adjust the sound track to map more accurately
to the video, I simply create a few still image frames and insert them
where needed to perfect the sync task

Then I can export to AVI, MPEG, WMV or DVD.

Its a time consuming job, but the results can make your PPT stunning.

Hope this helps!

Chris
