Music from games

I would like to know how to record or save the music from my PC games onto my
hard drive. Is there a program that will enable me to do this?

Hi kr310,

Windows XP has a search built in. Click START > Search
Select Pictures, Music or video
Check Music
Click Advanced
Under "Look in:" Select you CD/DVD drive
Click Search

It depends on the game. Some of them use CD audio tracks which you can
extract with any CD ripper. Others have WAVs, MP3s or what-have-you in
one of the game folders.

A few pack the game data files (music included) into big compressed
files, usually you need a utility written specifically for that game's
file formats to extract the music files (Diablo II is a case in point),
but some games just use zip files (those based off the Quake 3 and Doom
3 engines for example).

I have been trying to get the music from DeusEx 2 with no luck. Your reply
explains it.
I did once have a program called The Overseer which allowed you to play
the music from any Tex Murphy game CD with the CD in the drive. This worked
on Tex Murphy games only and as you say, written to play that games file
format.
