when I download files from a P2P and put them on the media player what is
actually one album becomes multiples of that album with 2-3 songs in each
album. Is it possible to combine them so it's just the one actual album?

If you're using the WMP v11 beta you may just be seeing a bug.

In general though, the Album Title and Album Artist must be the same on
all tracks of an album.
