music files in powerpoint 2002

I want to insert music files instead of play music from a
CD. PPT won't recognize .cda or .wmp music files. Can I
convert the songs to a file type that PPT will recognize?

Yes. http://www.google.com Search for sound edit software. GoldWave and
Cool Edit have gotten good mentions here. I like Sound Forge's little
brother, Sound Forge Studio. Sonic Foundry, maker of Sound Forge, etc.,
has sold to Sony, so the Google link to Sound Forge isn't right.
