music and narrate

i have a project to do and i'm SO confused!!!
i'm trying to add narration to my picture still movie and i would love it if
i can also have music playing in the background. i'm new at this program and
so far, everything is great but that one problem i've been having.
what can i do???
 
narate to the timeline, save as a dv-avi then import this back onto the
timeline and add the music.
