multiple Y-axes plot

Hi there,

I have three columns of, lets say financial data:

1) date - want along the X-axis
2) price - want along the Y-axis (left side @ $0 - $10)
3) profit - want along the Y-axix (right side @ $500 - $1000)

I tried to use the "Lines on 2-Axes" to have a scatterplot with just
one series showing:

(X, {Y1,Y2} ) for (Date, {price,profit}) but excel keeps displaying
two seperate series of (Date, price) and (date,profit).

Can anyone please help me out here. Thanks so much.
 
You will get two lines:
data series1 1 is X vs price
data series2 2 is X vs profit

Since X data is date values, I suggest an Line chart
Do not have a label/title in the cell above you first date - that confuses
Excel

Can you explain what it is you want, please

Thanks for getting back to me. I have a hypothetical 100 shares of
google that I purchased on 10/1 for $400/share. I'd like to see the
profit/loss from this trade over the course of the month. I'd like to
see 1 pt for each day, matching up the price on a y-axis (left) and
profit y-axis2 (right). Let me know if this makes sense.
 
Put the data in three columns
Select it and use chart wizard - line chart
Right click on data series on chart; use Format Data Series; specify
secondary axis

Want points, not lines?
In turn, format each data series on chart, specify Makers and no Lines

Unfortunately that still gets me back to where I was earlier with two
different series being shown. Maybe this explains it best:

date Price Profit
10/1/2008 400 0
10/7/2008 410 1000
10/7/2008 420 2000
10/7/2008 425 2500
10/9/2008 395 -500
10/10/2008 380 -1500

I'd like to see one data series with 2 Y-Axes even though the scales
are different. Maybe this just isn't possible?
 
Follow my directions and adjust the scale of either (or both) y-axis
