Multiple XP Activations

We've just reimaged a student computer lab and are needing to reactivate all
the COA's. Internet activation is failing as we have activated the COA's
multiple times (we like to reimage the machines twice a year to keep them
clean.)

I have 2 questions.

1. Will Microsoft Activation allow us to have the same person on the phone
as we activate all 30 of these?
2. What can I do to prevent the 2 hours of activation time next time? Use
-activated?? I thought the -activated code only reset the grace period.

Thanks!

1. No
2. You cannot reset the 30 day grace period to activate.

You should be using Volume Licensing which does not require
Product Activation.

EXCELLENT!! <sarcasm>

Will Longhorn consider IT workers who frequently reimage PC's in the future?
I guess we could get a volume license, but the COA's are often offered cheap
when buying new PC's.

Maybe something we need to look into.

Thanks.

The program for "IT workers" is the Volume License program.
AFAIK Longhorn will be the same as Windows XP.
But there is still far to long before the release of Longhorn for details
such as that to be known.

You should at least research Volume License if you already haven't to
determine pros and cons for your situation.

You really need to shop around for your new hardware, specifically for
vendors that will supply you with new machines with no operating
system installed.

Your original message said "... student computer lab ..." which
indicates that you are associated with a school or college of some
sort. If that is the case then you really need to evaluate your
software licensing and acquisition policies as Microsoft has some very
attractively priced licensing programs for educational institutions.

See, for examples, http://www.microsoft.com/education/Open.aspx

Good luck
