The laptop given to me by my company runs Windows XP
Professional. I've discovered that it needs 47 Windows
updates.

I've seen in previous posts that you should never install
more than 4-5 updates at one time.

How do I know which sequence to install the updates. The
list of 47 updates does not seem to be in date sequence or
number sequence. It would seem to be pointless to
overwrite newer update with older updates.

Please advise,
Alan

Hi,

I've installed lots of updates (30+) on a regular basis
when building new PC's from the install CD. So far I have
never had a problem. Worst case if a few fail then simply
rerun Windows update.

Tim

Download SP 1a first. Then run update again. You should find a lesser number
to install. Take all of the critical updates. Look through the recommended
ones and see which ones you want.

Don't take any driver updates from the Windows Updates list. They seem to be
problematic. Go to the hardware Mfr's web-site and download from them.
