I am trying to setup a server for my teacher. it is running the windows 2000
server. and there are 30 computers running xp pro and i want to know how do i
set up for each computer a set of users that login to a domain. There are
multiple users on each computer and i need to know how to set it up so they
cant view any other folder on the server. I am new to the server os and need
to be pointed in the right direction.

That's a big request for how to setup an AD domain, join machines, setup
users, and setup permissions on shares. I would suggest to check out this
site to get you started:

Active Directory - Everything you want to know. [MS]:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/technologies/directory/AD/default.asp

Joining a machine (reminder you can't join XP Home), THis is for 2000, but
it's the same for XP Pro:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/planning/server/prosteps.asp

How to share a folder and add users and their permissions:
http://ecross.mvps.org/howto/share.htm
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/filesharing.mspx

There's much more, but my suggestion is to use the help files, which are
pretty robust explaining alot of stuff, and use Google to search for
specifics.
