I think, but I'm not positive, that a few minor problems I've been
having are related and may indicate a larger problem:
* My Logitech Setpoint settings often get corrupted
* iTunes never cleans up its iT.tmp file
* Automatic Wallpaper Changer occasionally complains that it cannot
find one of its settings files when loading (the one that contains
its files list)
* I will periodically get a "what do you want to do with this type of
media" prompt when inserting a CD despite having previously told the
system to "do nothing" AND to always take the same action for that
type of media
In the case of iTunes, I've tried a clean reinstall, no change. I
tried running it in a new user profile on my computer and +that+
worked. In the case of Setpoint, I tried a clean reinstall, no change.
The only commonality I can find between these various programs and
issues is they all use the Registry to store at least some of their
settings.
I have done a full virus, trojan and rootkit scan with Kaspersky
Internet Security v7 with its current detection engine and database
files. No problems were found (the full scan took about 7 hours).
What next?

"The election is a necessity. We cannot have a free government
without elections; and if the rebellion could force us to forgo, or
postpone, a national election, it might fairly claim to have already
conquered us." - Abraham Lincoln, on refusing to cancel the 1864
election during the Civil War despite predictions he'd loose.
