I was wondering if it was possible to have one computer control the sound in
several rooms.
Example: I could have one CD playing in the room the computer is in, another
CD in another room, and a third CD in the third room.

You would either need a home theater system with dual-zone support, such as the
Sony STR-DE897 or STR-DE997, and two CD or DVD players. The easiest way,
however, is to run a media server. As long as the three computers were
networked, they could log into the main PC's library and play any digital audio
file (not CD) on it. You would also need software that supports it.

I think we'll go with the media server idea.

Thanks for your input!
