I have a handful of questions/problems. First, when attempting to connect to
a web site the browser shifts into a hyper mode where it seems to
continuously try to access a 'bad url': grandstreeinteractive.com. It
freezes and requires shutting down the computer to eliminate the problem.

Second, there seems to be an inrodinate number of times when the browser
closes itself down. An example is when attempting to access an mpeg file.
It occurs other times when attempting to display other web pages.

Third, the pop-up blocker in IE does not block all unwanted pop-ups, but it
will block my attempts to delete e-mail at Yahoo Mail and it will block an
attempt to view an mpeg unless I override it.

I have not tried reinstalling IE. I have tried changing some of the
security settings to no avail.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.
