Multiple Personal Folders from one PST file

I recently upgraded from Office XP to 2003 and copied my
PST file into the \Local Settings\application data\outlook
folder, overwriting the one Outlook 2003 created. However,
when I open Outlook 2003, I have 2 entries on the task
pane on the left, both identical with a title of Personal
Folders, and identical content. If I right click and look
at the location, they both point to the same PST file. I
have just tried to export the folder to an Office 2003 PST
file, and then open that one and now I have 3 entries for
Personal Folders, and I can't get rid of any of them. I
have tried the scanpst file which did report some errors,
and fixed them, but it hasn't resolved the multiple
entries. Any ideas gratefully received

Overwriting a .PST file with another one is never a good idea...as you can
see :-) Your best bet is to create a new mail profile from scratch, let
Outlook create a new .PST file (since there's a new Unicode format for .PST
files in Outlook 2003), then open your old .PST file using File | Open |
Outlook Data File and copy items from the old to the new. Subfolders can be
copied in their entirety; for default folders like the Inbox, you should
copy the items within rather than the entire folder.

..PST files can be stored anywhere on your hard drive, so don't worry about
putting a .PST in the "default" location.

Using this method to move my data to a new PST file in the new format, two
questions:
1. How do i move all of my calendar items:
2. Will i lose my custom created "views" or can that be salvaged by
copying another file somewhere?

Thanks

1) Calendar items are located in the .PST file just like any other data
items (mail, tasks, contacts, etc.) You would need to copy the items from
one .PST to another, and like I said in my original reply, if you're moving
items to the default calendar, you'll want to move the items themselves,
rather than the entire folder. Switch to an unfiltered table view of the
original folder, such as By Category, use CTRL+A to select all items at
once, then drag to the new folder.

2) Custom folder views are a bit trickier -- they are contained in the .PST
file and they can be "backed up" and transferred to the new file, but it's
kind of a long and tedious process. However, if you're like me and you
don't want to lose the views completely, you'll bite the bullet and do it
:-) The following article tells you how:

Incidentally, this is why we usually tell people to re-use their old .PST
files when moving to a new machine or upgrading to a new version of
Outlook...so they don't have to go through all this trouble :-) No getting
around it when moving to the new Unicode .PST version, though.
