Multiple pausing

Hi, I am running RC1 (Build 5600) x64 and I am getting multiple pauses for
upto 30 seconds. I have an Index of 5 and no marked hardware running on HW
Manager. These lockup do sort them selves out after about 30-40 seconds. The
annouying thing is that they seem random as I could be typing or just moving
the mouse when it happens.

Just to note I have also had the same thing happen in 5600 x32 and my CPU is
a E6400 with 2gig DDR2 7900GS with Vista on it's own 250gig HD

Have you noticed this behaviour consistantly from the time you installed? or
has it recently started occuring after say new software or device driver
installations? (Even updates to existing drivers...) If the later...Reverse
the changes and see if it persists. If not...Something is conflicting
somewhere..

Thanks for replying Cyberwolf.

This has been happening from as soon as I installed Vista. My first thought
was drivers, but as I downloaded drivers the lockups continued to happen even
though all I have connected is my internet and mouse/keyboard. I can't see
any conflicts in device manager and I have tried updated graphics and sound
drivers and reverted back. I have even turned off the gaget bar and on
processes as nothing strange is being reported as the same when the CPU graph
is running.

I have in stalled 3 times now twice with x64 and once with x32 and every
time it has been the same. I am stumped :)

For me the culprit is SearchProtocolHost.exe. It would eat up all my
available ram (up to 1.1GB) all at once, and release them slowly. Then it
would do it again a few more times. During this time, swap file usage also
went up. After a few repeats, it stops. Sooner if I just let it do its
thing. I can see this activity in Resource Monitor.
