I have a computer with Windows 2000 server. I wanted to
install XP Pro. It did, but now I have both OS's on the
machine. I want to ONLY have Windows XP Pro on it. When
I try re-install XP, it will NOT override the Win2000
Server. How can empty the hard drive so that I can
install Windows XP Pro ONLY and take out Windows 2000
Server?
Help is greatly appreciated.

To do a clean install, boot the Windows XP install CD-Rom and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom to avoid unexpected drive letter
assignments with your new install.

I have two partitions, the C and another one. But It
wont let me delete the partitions......

When the machine reboots, the blue XP setup screen comes
up and it asked on what partition do i want to install XP
on. I first press 'D' to delete the C and it says I cant
because files will be used in the setup process. any
ideas?

Another option. Boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set
of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change
to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos)
or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the XP CD-Rom to start your install.
