Multiple objects with same number in PPT 2007

I am using PPT 2007 in compatibility mode. I brought in 2002 PPT file because
patterns were dropped in 2007 (a bummer). When copying and pasting objects I
found that I had duplicate object numbers. This messed me up when trying to
do animation. Is this correct or a bug? (I am glad I still have PPT 2002.)

Also, when will bug in reshaping arrows be fixed? I am creating lines and
put arrowhead on at hopefully final stage as workaround.

Thanks for any suggestions or comments.
