Dear all,

We are running a win 2k server with two NICs, one for local network
connetion and other for DSL based Internet connection. There is one
internal DNS running and another DNS is based at ISP.

What is the appropriate and efficient way to configure this setup? I
will be grateful for any pointers to some documentation or hints.

Thanks

Hi,

The best configuration is to have both network cards point to the internal
DNS server and have the internal DNS server forward to the ISP DNS.

Hi Marc:
what about the seconday DNS entries. Should you have anything in it I mean
the first DNS server entry will point to internal adapter 10.0.0.1 . Should
there be a second DNS entry like 64.30.200.xxx for iSP for one or both
Network cards.
Shoud there be a gateway entry pointing to ISP's gateway. and what crad
should that be in.

For Example Internal NIC is 10.0.0.1

ISP is 64.245.245.40
GW 64.245.245.1
ISP' DNS Servers are 192.209.45.32 & 192.209.45.33

How would you enter them in network properties of TCp/Ip.

Please kindly explain with detail.

Respectfully

JM
