multiple monitors - CANT disable primary onboard adapter?

What instructions does the manual for the motherboard give for disabling
the onboard video chip?

None at all, no jumpers, nothing in Bios, etc. Called them, no way to turn
it off. Pretty stupid, huh?


I did get it disabled in W2k at one time. I do not remember how I did it.

Hi

I have a motherboard (FIC-33) that does not allow you to disable the onboard
video adapter. I can change its VGA memory size, I can tell it to post to
the pci addon adapter card, but cannot for the life of me disable the device
in bios OR in W2k

Right now I have the system starting on the addon card. That works fine,
but after the system starts up, it has a desktop ONLY on the onboard adapter
monitor

Selecting desktop properties says the addon card is not attached but shows
it in the monitors section. If I attach it and do APPLY, it just unattaches
it again.

I just want to disable the onboard video and allow this device to be the
ONLY monitor.

I can't find where to disable this device even in W2k even in devmgmt.msc
(manage).
I can't find the 'Enable desktop to expand to this monitor' checkbox as
alluded in MS knowledgebase, etc.

This is all very frustrating.....

Are the drivers gettin installed for the addin card? If you get that
working and set as Primary then you "may" be able to set the onboard to
disabled in Windows.

Yes, the nvidia drivers are installed, if I bring up desktop properties and
select nvidia or monitor 2, it even has the driver's special tab shown.

I make it primary, attached, and when I hit 'apply', it goes back to the
built in

I must have gotten it working way back when when I had disabled the builtin
in windows.... Can't for the lif of me, get it working now!!!

Sorry, I'm out of suggestions. Was never too impressed with the on board
video business.

Maybe stupid suggestion, but did you try disabling the onboard card in
windows, and then resetting?
