Multiple Item 'Types' In A Single Outlook Folder - Possible?

Hi All,

Is it possible to have more than one item type in a single folder in
Outlook?

For example, I would like to be able to copy a calendar entry
(including text and attachments) into a normal email item folder.

I realise that I could just create a new item in that folder, and
insert the calendar entry itself as an attachment, but if possible I
would prefer to avoid that additional step in creation and later when
opening it.

Currently, when I try to copy the calendar item to an email folder, I
get the following options:

- Copy here as message with text
- Copy here as message with shortcut
- Copy here as message with attachment (currently best option)
- Move here as message with attachment

Is there some configuration that I can change for the folder to allow
other item types?

Thanks,

Alan.

No, you can't.

Okay.

Next best thing - can I create just a shortcut in a mail folder to the
actual calendar entry.

Again - this would be distinct from having a mail item with a link
inside it.

Thanks for your help,

Alan.

No you can't either. The solution with a link in an item is basically it.
What are you trying to achieve? You can set a reminder on an e-mail by
rightclicking it and the choose to flag it.

Hi Roady,

I receive calendar invites containing agendas and notes for meetings.

I also have folders set up for different projects.

I have been pasting the contents of the calendar item into an email
item, and dropping it in the project folder, but it would be more
convenient just to leave the calendar item in my calendar, and put a
shortcut to it in my project folder, thus retaining all of the
original calendar data where it already is.

Hope that makes sense!

Alan.

Makes sence. You can also assign a category to the calendar item like
"project name" and create a custom view for the Calendarthat only shows
items for that specific category.

Is this something you can work with?

Hi Roady,

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I have had a play around, and it
looks
like it might work.

The only issue appears to be that whilst I can filter the calendar to
only show the items I need, they are all over the place (projects span
months at least). Is there any way to get a calendar view that just
shows a 'list' of entries by date? Have I missed something obvious on
this one?

Thanks for your continuing assistance with this!

Alan.

Hi Alan,

Your welcome! :-) Sorry it took about a week for the reply.

If you just want the list it's even eassier; Outlook already has a View->
Current View-> By Category.

Also; Customize Current View-> button Group By-> Categories and button
Sort...-> by Date

I think you're all set now? :-)
