I have an XP Pro on a network that is connected to a
Linksys switch. The switch is connected to a Netopia
router that goes out to Internet. When I view the Netopia
that shows the IP's being served by DHCP, I see the XP
Pro PC using up 3 IP's. Additionally, I have another IP
configured statically and placed on the XP Pro PC-- so I
have altogether 4 IP's associated with this PC. Can
anyone explain why this is happing?
Thanks,
Jon

We need to see the IP's in question.

IP's starting with 192 are internal and help the machines INSIDE your
network find each other.

If the XP Pro PC only has one network card connected to the switch, it
can only have one IP address allocated by the DHCP server. The list
of IP's must be out of date. Refresh it, and it should show just the
current address allocation.
