Someone in my household needed to repair a windows xp
installation on a Dell laptop, but couldn't find the Dell
windows xp installation CD which came with the machine.
So...........they used my OEM windows xp which I already
had activated on my desktop machine....and activated it in
my name on that laptop.
When I realized this, and after finding the Dell CD, I
removed the laptop's illegal installation and replaced it
with that from the Dell CD.

How do I contact Microsoft to advise them that the second
(illegal) installation is history?

Thanks,
CC

They never knew.

Well, maybe they do now.

If you do not have major hardware changes on the original
install in the next 60 days there should be no issue. If there
is you can just call the number that will be offered at that
time and tell them the other install was destroyed.
