Multiple Flash files in PPT

I am doing a PPT presentation that contains a lot of
Flash files. The first four work perfectly, but after
that, the properties reset to "Play: False". WHen I reset
them to "True", they play fine but saving the file WILL
NOT remember these changes.
Of course, I would rather not be using PPT for this
presentation but that is beyond my control.
Any ideas?

Hi Sonia,
I have been through all his tutorials. It seems like it
should work but it just doesn't. From the 4th slide on,
it always resets to "Play=False". It will not save the
changes.

I had tons of problems getting embedded Flash to work constantly in a
presentation recently. I came up with a list of potential problem causers.
First, try re-embedding the Flash files instead of trying to just reset
them.
What version of PowerPoint are you viewing the files in and what version of
Flash are you saving the .swf files from?
Do multiple users have access to these files, and if so are they all using
the same version of PowerPoint?
Lastly, have you tried embedding them from the same directory that your PPT
file is in?

Hi Justin,
It's PPT 2002 and Flash MX.
Yes, it seems you have to embed the flash files when you
first import them, as it doesn't want to make changes
afterwards. I am embedding from the same directory.
This plug-in (http://www.globfx.com/downloads/swfpoint/)
seems to work really well, except you do need to install
it on every machine that is playing the presentation.

Hello Mark,

In PowerPoint we don't do anything special to accomodate one type of
ActiveX control vs. another. To PowerPoint the Shockwave Flash control is
just another control which means that we a programming interface for it
(VBA) but it doesn't really "know" anything about the type of control or
what it's capable of (other than it's location within the slide).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it is important to
have improved support for Shockwave Flash in PowerPoint, don't forget to
send your feedback to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

Hi Mark,
I am familiar with the Swiff tool that embedds the Flash, but didn't mention
it for the very reason you mentioned, because it seemed to me that all users
seem to need to have the plug it. A good tool, but kind of useless if
you're expecting everyone else to have it this plug-in.
Also, I found that when others accessed my PPT file from older versions of
PowerPoint (it was on network), it would often corrupt the embedded Flash.
Hope that plug-in is your solution.
