This is a very long post. sorry.
I am looking for a VB outlook ideas that would allow the create a rule
to move an incoming message from the inbox to another folder based
on the To: address domain.
I normally hang out in the Small Business Server series NGs where we are
getting more and more questions about multiple email domains. I presume
here in the Outlook NGs you are also getting similar questions. However, I
cannot find the answer I am looking for by using google.
The Exchange Server (standard) version included with SBS will allow each
recipient to have multiple addresses as in (e-mail address removed) and
(e-mail address removed). Many people posting multiple domain questions have a
business plan, or more accurately the business process, where the workers
are employed by one company, but the company masks itself as two or more
business entities that appear as completely independent of each other to the
external world.
An example: A Dentist office, which also runs a separate company for medical
transcriptions for hire and a third company that does medical insurance
billing for others. All three business entities must be operated as
independent for professional insurance or partnership reasons. However,
overworked Jane Doe actually does all the work for all the companies.
The current way SBS exchange is set up, user Jane Doe has messages addressed
to both domains (@abc.com and @xzy.com) appear in the Outlook single
exchange inbox. But Jane Doe needs to be sure she knows to which hat she
has to put on when responding to a message.
My thought is to have a VB script add-on that would modify the Outlook Rules
to allow an action based on the domain the message is intended for. Most of
the
other problems, (reply to address, from address, and so forth) can be
solved,
but the inbox problem seems to be the biggest hurdle.
Currently, other solutions are employed, but lack simplicity for the end
user.
Any Ideas?
