In our office, we have several ACC2000 databases that
multiple users use. The problem: I have a database open
that has a source table linked to other databases; a co-
worker has another db open and tries to run a query that
uses a linked table to the database I'm in, she gets the
error "Couldn't Use '(database name)'; File already in
use". This error just started happening in the last few
days.

Make certain that your co-worker has full read/write permissions to the
folder where your database is stored.

How do we check that? When she opens the database, an LDB
file is created. She is using Windows 2000, the rest of
us are using Windows NT.

You should be able to check it by right clicking on the folder and selecting
Properties. You MAY have to have your system administrator to set the proper
rights.
