Multiple copies of email

One of my clients tend to get mulitple copies of emails.
These tend to be random though she often gets 4 or 5
copies of same email. This client is running Outlook 2000
on Windows XP on a Dell laptop recieving her email
directly from Mindspring through their pop3 account. It
seems to be the greatest problem when connecting using a
dial up at home rather then a DSL when at the office. Is
this a result of a message hanging up or what? How can I
correct it?

This could be because of firewall settings so that a confirmation of
receiving cannot be send back to the smtp server. Disable the firewall for a
while and see if the problem is gone.

Hope this helps!

I had the same problem - but there seem to be many reasons for this
happening. Here's how I fixed mine:

When you setup a rule, there is an option to stop processing more
messages (under 'what do you want to do with the message'). When I
ticked that option for all my rules, the duplicates stopped. I guess
it was processing multiple rules for each email arriving in the inbox.

I would have thought that option should be ON by default and should
not be hidden away at the bottom of the list. Bad design!
