multiple contacts

In Outlook 2002, Windows XP OS, if I click "New Mail" and
start typing in the "To" line of the message, it suggests
multiple e-mail addresses, including any incorrect e-mail
addresses. It almost appears as if it is showing the
history of typing. However, if I go into the Contacts,
only one e-mail address is showing. How can i get this
history to go away?

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
