multiple boot install of 64-bit vista from 32 bit XP?

I have a simple question which I couldn't find information for on the
website. I want to be able to multiple boot my current OS of windows XP 32
bit and windows vista 64 bit. The information I saw said that to install
64-bit vista from a 32-bit XP I had to start my computer with the
installation DVD in the DVD drive. My question is whether I can set up a
multiple boot configuration if I have an available partition without having
to re-install 32-bit XP? If so, how? Also I wanted to check if doing a
multiple boot configuration will be affected by having an upgrade license for
vista? References to help files or support is welcome! Thnks.

Hello Jackson,

Installing any version of x64 Vista onto another partition by booting from
the DVD will not affect your install of XP. It will give you a dual-boot
menu. Just be sure to install to the correct partition!

However, as you only have an upgrade license for Vista, you would be out of
compliance. The Vista upgrade license subsumes your XP license, and does
not allow you to continue running XP. You would need a full version license
to dual boot and remain in compliance.
