How do I get rid of one of the choices? when my machine
boots it gives me 2 choices(both are windows 2000 pro)one
is corrupt and just gives me a error(disk drive or
controler is not working). So I want to get rid of this
one but cannot find any help on this.

not to sure how to get rid of it completely. but you can
tell your machine to automatically boot to a specific OS.
right click my computer > properties > advanced > start up
and recovery > select the default OS > and set the time to
0 seconds to display list of operating systems. Then when
you boot up it'll automatically boot the that OS.

Edit the boot.ini file (make a copy of it first!!), and
remove the entry that is not needed....be aware that if
you remove the wrong entry you may need a bootdisk if you
can't reboot!!

can find boot.ini in the root of c:\ (may need to change
view to enable you to see it, and also modify the
attributes)

1) Click Start > Run, Type "Cmd" and then press <Enter>.

2) Type "Cd\" and then press <Enter>

3) Type "Attrib C:\Boot.ini -h -r -s" and then press <Enter>

4) Click Start > Run, Type "Notepad c:\boot.ini" and then press
<Enter>

5) Edit the file as desired to remove the reference to the corrupt
installation, save it, and then exit Notepad.

6) Type "Attrib C:\Boot.ini +h +r +s" and then press <Enter>

7) Close the command console.

Will the last post will get rid of the choice upon startup
or the 'second' errant installation?

I have the same problem in desiring to get rid of one of
my installed choices (not just the option upon startup).
