Multiple attempts to connect

I don't know if I am in the right newsgroup, but I have a
problem. Whenever I start my Windows 2000 edition, the
box that connects you to the Internet continually pops up,
without me requesting it. I have change all the settings
multiple times, but the Connect to: box keeps popping up.
It is driving me crazy! What do I need to do?
 
Disable the RAS Autodial service to prevent this from happening.
