Can Advanced server handle a configuration with on 5i
controller, 2 arrays with 3 hard drives each array in one
logical drive per array.

Is there any performance boost with the above
configuration compared to simply having one array with 6
drives on one logical drive?

Thanks

If you are using hardware to manage the drives then in this case the OS
would only see 2 drives (one for each array).

Generally the more drives you are using in an array, the better the
performance. Since each drive can be performing read/write(s) at the same
time. So in theory 6 drives should perform better than 3 if the
controller/drives can keep up with the data.
I would take into consideration what this machine is going to be used for.
Just a DC, Exchange, SQL or all of the above. If the machine is going to
perform multiple tasks then 2 arrays will probably work better. Would you
really want the OS to have to share drive time with a huge SQL database? It
would be beneficial to seperate the 2 so that the OS can do what it needs
and SQL can at the same time.
