Multiple applications on same server

Good morning everyone,

I currently need to put together a Win2k server that will be capable of
running networked applications for 4 separate departments. Each department
will need it's own apps on the server so in theory we could have 3 CRMs
running, 4 accounting packages etc. Buying a server each is not an option as
they cannot justify the expense.

What is the best way to implement this without risking security and server
performance?

Thanks,

Kou

PS. I could not find a more appropriate NG for this post; if you think it
should be reposted somewhere else please let me know and I will move it.

Hello,

That's a lot of software on the one server. Lots of memory and fast
hard drives with a decent processor or two would probably help
alleviate any bottlenecks. A lot depends on your software and how it
works.

You should also establish a monitor the server for performance; this
will help spot any potential bottlenecks early. Microsoft includes
some decent monitoring tools to help get you started.
