Hello.

Im not sure if anyone else has seen this, or if its maybe a
tablet pc related issue.

I see many icons appear during normal runtime. It seems
like the application is being restarted frequently beacause
when the mouse is hovered over them they disappear. With
only one left viewable.

If you want any event logs etc please email me and ill send
them over.

And thanks MS for taking the time to work on the spyware
issue :)

Regards
JZ

This has definitely been reported by others, and I believe that this one is
on Microsofts radar at this point. As far as I know it isn't Tablet
specific, but not every report specifies all the detail.

Thanks for reporting it.

It could be as a result of your video card redrawing the image to make it
seem like it was multiple AntiSpyware icons in your system tray or just an
error when launching.

Excellent,

Bill and Andre, very impressive response time there :)

Is there a mailing list regarding updates for this beta
from microsoft?

BTW are you 2 from MS?

No--I'm not sure where to recommend checking for least noise--maybe the
download site--
http://www.microsoft.com/spyware

Neither of us are from Microsoft--I'm a volunteer--one of those that
Microsoft has given the MVP designation to for the help we give in online
forums such as these.

There are posts from Microsoft here--most signed with [MSFT] as part of the
name, although there are a few remaining incognito.

I have a MCE2005 PC, and see the same thing. Definately
not just a graphics redraw thing. When I open the anti
spyware progra, and close it, there is a second. If I do
it again, there is a third. Seems to stop after 3 for
some reason.

Then, when it scans over night, I have three scan results
windows, right on top of each other, all ready to close.
And, whatever tray icon I select, it says a scan was
never run, even though it just finished a scan.

This has been the main bug I've run across. Its a pretty
good program. I installed Office XP the other day, and
noticed it happily let Office put start up shortcuts
without my approval (just told me it was doing it), but
when installing non Microsoft programs that set a startup
option I get a pop up requiring my approval to run at
startup. No surprise given the Microsoft philosophy, but
interesting just the same.

This is definitely a bug, Dave, and known to Microsoft. Since you mention
MCE2005, I've got to post the known issue with Media Center Extenders:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892374 Windows Media Center Extender cannot
establish a remote connection after you install Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)
on a computer that is running Windows Media Center Edition 2005

I have the same issue and I sincerely doubt it is a video
card issue. It will create new icons in the tray and
even icons such as a new mail icon in outlook may be
between the ghost MAS icons.
