Hi guys,

I have 4 email accounts from different companies/universities I work/
study for, and until recently I had all email on one PST. But then the
PST just got larger and larger.

I thought about dividing the email on multiples PSTs per email
account. Is there any problem by doing this? I mean it's even more
secure, right? Since it decreases the probability of the all email get
corrupted. At most one account gets corrupted that way right?

Cheers.

Sure, you can have one account per .pst file and decrease your risk of losing all of your OUtlook data. What version of Outlook rae you using?

And if the sys suffers mechanical/electrical hicup, which I'd have thought
the more likely scenario, it doesnt matter how many data files you have, any
file can become corrupted. eg the hd fails
Thats where multiply & frequent backups are wise

I'm using 2003. I already made one pst per account and used rules to
redirect them to each one.

I was only throwing the discussion about advantages and disadvantages
of multiple psts vs. a single pst with several folders.

On the field of the multiple psts, we "load balance" the size of the
accounts by making smaller psts and thus slightly increasing the
performance, right?

By the other hand a single pst keeps things more simple on a UI
perspective, i guess.

How do you manage your email? Single pst ou multiple?

Cheers.

I'd be surprised if multiple PSTs would improve performance in any
measurable way over one PST unless that one PST were significantly large.

My single PST had about 8Gb. :( That's why I tought about multiple
PSTs.

I noted some improvements on performance, meaningly on the send/
receive time. It's more faster.

Cheers.
