I'm trying to setup Baldergate 2 so I can play multiplayer with one of my
kids. I
guess I would be the host from my upstairs computer since that's where the
game is installed and I'm the only one that's played this game at all.

I want to be able to connect to the downstairs computer. Each computer has
it's own cable modem and IP address and are not networked. Both are P4s
running WinXP Pro.

Now I've got the "full" install on my computer, so what do I need to do
with the downstairs computer? Although I do have some understanding of
computers, I really have no idea how to get this setup.

Any help would be appreciated (especially by my kids who are patiently
waiting for 'ol dad to get this thing running).

You probably would ping the other computer, all the options
would be in cmd,go to run, type:cmd At the curser type:
Ping /?
You might try search at microsoft.com,ping
Getting the adress of the other computer is a start

Ok, you will first need to have the game installed on both computers (i'm
sure you knew that,) and you might have to have 2 play CDs for the game..

You will also need to find the IP address for the computer hosting the game.
(varies depending on setup)
once you have that, just load up BG2:SoA on the host computer, go to
Multiplayer, then choose TCP/IP as the game type, then click host. (you may
or may not be showen your IP address on the next screen) then on the client
computer, load it up, go to multiplayer, then choose tcp/ip as the game type
as well, and then clickon join (you will be prompted to enter in the ip
address, do so)

that's pretty much all i can remember right now.. If that doesn't help you,
just post here and i'll check tonight when i'm at home and get back to ya

Drew,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I'll give it a try tonight.
Yes I did install on both computers. Although I made copies, install would
only work from the original CDs. Fortunately the copies do seem to work for
playing or when the game calls for a disk. I can get the 2 IP addresses
since both accounts are mine.

Thanks again,
