Each time my office computer boots up, I get an error message

"MultiPASS Initializatio
The MultiPASS hardware could not be initialized
The connected device may not be the same as the MultiPASS device that was installed.
Please check your setup and configuration to make sure that the MultiPASS system connecte
matches your installation.

Sad to say, I don't understand what's going on. Can anyone help clarify this for me? Thanks, in advance

Andy;
That sounds like a Cannon printer error message.
Check with them for troubleshooting.

I have a CAnon Multipass C755 and I get a similar message on my Gateway with Win ME - I have the multipass sharing a port with my flatbed scanner via an A/B switch - therefore the computer can't "find" it when it boots up and I have to turn on the software manually. As long as I remember to do this, I've had no problems at all for a couple of years.

Did you change any of the hookups when you upgraded to XP? You might try re-installing the printer software, now that WIN XP is installed. XP just may not recognise the printer, or perhaps you had an outdated driver that XP is not familiar with? It may have worked fine under the old system, but XP just doesn't recognise it?
