Multipage scan to pdf?

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a prog for multipage (black-and-white) scan to pdf?
(Or just assembling a numbered series of .TIFs to pdf?)

My scanner (epson) comes with something that is mostly well-designed, except
that it does not compress the images and thus produces huge files.

My current workaround is to assemble a multipage document in Freehand and
export that - it gives me the filesize I want but is quite tedious.

Thanks,

My scanner (a Canon) comes with a program that scans straight to the
printer. I scan each page and tell it to "print" to FreePDF
<http://www.shbox.de/> and then use its "add to next" feature to
capture them all in one PDF. There is also a mode where you can have
it keep adding until you tell it to stop, but I'm comfortable with the
extra click or two the way I'm doing it.

Thanks, that works pretty well.

I also figured out how to use Irfanview's batch scan to make a numbered
series of CCITT 4 TIFFs and compile them into a PDF with a command-line prog
called "c42pdf"
http://c42pdf.ffii.org/

I think I like FreePDF for smaller jobs, but the c42pdf for big jobs that
might easily get screwed up in the scanning process.

Cheers,
